Position Summary:
Assists with planning and oversees layout of equipment, office, and production facilities. Maximizes work flow andi spatial utilization, works w/ others to ensure facility efficiency and workplace safety, and implements lean manufacturing concepts whenever possible.
   
Essential Functions:
Coordinates and implements Lean and Continuous Improvement activities. Participates at the initiation phase of new product lines to assist in design and process improvements for cost-effective manufacturing. Develops and designs workplace layout through the use of time and motion economy principles. Measures variances to standards using stop-watch or other tools/techniques, identifying significant variances, investigates reasons, suggests solutions, installs and follows up. Keeps abreast of technology trends and investigates for recommendations on most effective methods of manufacturing to keep company at competitive edge at all times. Logs cost reduction activities with routine follow up, assisting plant and department managers in exceeding operations budgets. Develops and assists with implementation of management information systems for planning and control purposes. Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes and procedures to enhance and improve the product line. Prepares accurate cost analyses of new equipment or other capital expenditures. Coordinates implementation and follows through on cost justification. Represents the company’s position and interest effectively in dealings with customers, outside contractors, vendors and engineering consultants. Participates in Management meetings and attends other department meetings when necessary. Travels to seminars, vendors and other M-C facilities when required. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Responsibilities:
Performs other engineering duties as assigned. Assists in sales presentations and design meetings as needed. Coordinates and conducts training classes on lean principles and continuous improvement as needed.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Education & Experience: B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent. Minimum of three years practical work experience in industrial engineering. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria Excellent interpersonal and customer service (internal) skills Experienced in technical computer language and applications Must be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes, material selection and product testing in addition to sketching, layout and drafting work Personal computer and word processor skills Good organizational skills Personal leadership skills Provides functional guidance for administrative support and needs Follow oral and written instructions Ability to prioritize work, meets deadlines, and performs accurately Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. on a frequent basis
